The generalized features of the units are as follows:

  • Austrian engines adapted to any weather conditions;
  • easy starting thanks to the Smart-Choke system;
  • reverse gearbox with extended shelf life;
  • convenience of steering wheel adjustment, which does not require special training;
  • effective noise absorption;
  • compatibility with various attachments.

The fate of farmers will be simplified by Viking HB 560. It is equipped with a Kohler Courage XT-6 OHV engine with a capacity of 3, 3 liters. s, fuel capacity - 1, 1 liter. The machine is very convenient for processing plots from 5-6 acres. The unit is quiet, with comfortable steering. All the switches the operator needs are located right on the handlebars.

Technically, the unit is equipped with:

  • tires 60 cm high and 32 cm in diameter;
  • disc elements in the amount of 2 pieces;
  • the unit weighs only 43 kg.

The operating instructions for the devices are in German, but with a detailed schematic display of all parts and connection assemblies. When working with equipment, the operator must take into account that the cultivator is not provided with a drive device, therefore, the movement of the unit will be possible only due to the power efforts of the operator. The land is cultivated with installed cutters.

The most productive unit of all Vikings is the 685 series unit . It is suitable for complex work. The engine of the Kohler Courage XT-8 unit is a modern, four-stroke, valves are located at the top. The one-piece crankshaft and liner cylinder guarantee the durability of the power unit. Due to the front wheel, the cultivator is characterized by increased maneuverability. In addition to processing heavy soils, it can be used to loosen plant beds and weed the ground in greenhouses.

Attachments and spare parts

Thanks to a wide selection of add-ons, you can expand the functionality of the devices. A milling cutter must be included in the standard basic kit. Usually there are from 4 to 6 pieces. You can always buy parts and thereby improve the quality of soil cultivation. The Viking ABS 400, AHV 600, AEM 500 units even specifically provide for the possibility of adding cutters.

To plant potatoes, add-ons are needed, called "digger" and "planter ". Models of this spare part are found on sale under the AKP 600 series. It is suitable for equipping all Viking modifications. It is also allowed to use the supplement of the manufacturers "Pubert", "Robix", "Solo".

Hilling can be done with cultivators of the VH 400, 440, 540, 660, HB 560, 585, 685 series. Suitable hillers: Viking ABU 440, 500, AHK 701. The tool allows not only hilling row spacings, but also cutting furrows and loosening the soil.

Weeding of row spacings with a cultivator is possible with a flat cutter. This device is distinguished by its width: from 24 to 70 cm. The devices can be combined or used one at a time. The combination is possible if the attachment points of the unit and the add-on are identical.

For Viking cultivators, plows of the same manufacturer are provided, produced under the designations ADP 600, AWP 600 . The first option is reversible, and the second is semi-reversible. The choice of this or that equipment is determined by the quality of the soil. For example, reversible plows ensure optimum deep plowing and loosening. Reversible species are able to plow more land. The presowing semi-reversible plow provides high-quality weed removal and harrowing of the land.

Most Viking cultivators can be used with different brands of lugs. In some cases, equipment from the manufacturer is not an obligatory component of quality. Choose from universal wheel kits, creepers, couplings and other spare parts that can improve the performance of the units.

The operating instructions do not provide for the use of attachments from heavy motoblocks with light cultivators. This rule should not be violated especially by people without the appropriate skills and knowledge of the device of motor vehicles.

Cultivator device with worm gear

The longest possible service of any equipment will be ensured by good care. This event is especially important for a spare part such as a gearbox. This complex mechanism is a complex part of all types of motorcycles . The gearbox consists of gear or worm wheels that rotate the shaft of the power unit. The design of the product includes many mechanisms that provide movement.

Image

The worm gearbox is installed in cultivators of low and medium power. The variants used in the Vikings are four-way . This factor is related to the number of threads on the screw. The engineers of the Austrian company came up with the idea of making such screws from a durable cast iron alloy. Many other companies offering cheaper cultivators use inexpensive steel for this part, which reduces the cost of products.

The worm gear receives torque from the engine and starts the process of rotation of the latter. If such a gearbox is installed on a cultivator, the unit will differ:

  • low noise levels;
  • smooth running.

For a long service life of the entire cultivator, it is important to pay attention to this detail, for example, to periodically lubricate the element. Correction of the worm gear can be done independently, but you need to familiarize yourself with its schematic image. The worm gear is easy to disassemble, so it is available for DIY repair.

For example, insufficient oil in the carburetor may be a common cause of excessive noise from the unit during operation. It is in the gearbox that the noise originates. It is recommended to fill it with oil to the optimum level. Sometimes, with a sufficient amount of it, the problem with excessive noise is eliminated by changing the oil to another brand . Possibly, fuel of dubious quality got into the unit.

The old fluid must be drained from the cultivator gearbox. This procedure is carried out through the bottom drain hole, which is usually closed with a plug. It must be unscrewed, having previously installed a suitable container at the bottom. You need to wait until all the oil has drained out, and screw the plug back by tightening it all the way with a wrench.

A funnel is installed in the filling hole, which is located on top. Next, a suitable lubricant is poured to the desired level. It is checked with a plug with a dipstick, which is screwed into place and then unscrewed again.

The rules assume a scheduled oil change in Viking gearboxes every 100 hours of operation

Causes of breakdowns and troubleshooting

Self-repair of cultivators is possible in the event of other problems. For example, it may be necessary to replace the spark plug when the device does not start or the speed is floating under load. If the carburetor gets dirty, gasoline enters the air filter.

Replacement of spark plugs may be required due to oxidation of contacts, insulation failure, carbon deposits . The element is considered completely out of order in the absence of an ignition spark. Sometimes it is enough to clean it, rinse it in gasoline and can be reinstalled in place.

When the engine speed floats, pistons and other components break down. The regulation of the ignition system will help to avoid premature wear.

  • Inspect the engine flywheel and check it by opening the contacts that are inside the unit.
  • Check the distance between the "anvil" and "hammer" - one of the important components of the system.
  • Manually move the flywheel before the piston is compressed.
  • Put the part back in place. A one-time knock that appears indicates that the overrunning clutch has operated.
  • Turn the handwheel counterclockwise until the points located on the case converge.
  • Adjust the distance between contact and cam. For proper ignition, the minimum possible is 0.25 mm, and the maximum is 0.35 mm.
  • Next, the adjusted part is fixed with a screw.

Compliance with the rules for servicing the air filter of the cultivator is one of the important conditions for the long-term operation of the unit. In order not to deteriorate the quality characteristics of the motor, the filter must be cleaned after each use of the device. For this:

  • carefully remove the cover;
  • pick up a paper filter and inspect;
  • clean with a soft cloth or brush;
  • thoroughly wash the space in front of the inlet;
  • it is recommended to wash the tube in soapy water;
  • the cleaned element must definitely dry;
  • for better work, you can lubricate the part with oil;
  • be sure to remove excess grease;
  • return the element to its place, making sure that the components are correctly assembled;
  • if there is too much dirt, replace the part.

Proper storage will provide a long service to the machine. Before conservation, the cultivator must be cleaned of dirt. The cleaned surfaces are wiped dry with a rag and treated with lubricants that will prevent corrosion. Choose a dry and clean place to store the cultivator.
