What types of sleeves are there?
If a hose made of metal is selected, any of the following metal hoses with fittings can be used:

The corrugation allows the sleeve to be lengthened. The temperature of the medium that is transported always ranges from - 60 degrees Celsius to - 400. Various working environments are used:
- petroleum product;
- steam;
- condensate;
- air and more.
They can be used, for example, for a gas water heater in the kitchen or for a stove. Thanks to the corrugated surface, you can change the shape and length of the sleeve. All the main design features are discussed at the design stage and depend on the features of operation. The maximum diameter of the connecting structure can be up to 350 mm, the minimum is 6.
Working pressure depends on the medium and scope of application, it ranges from full vacuum to fifty atm.
Operating rules
Although the air ducts are also used for the chimney, they must be kept clean. Both externally and internally. They must be free of any visible or invisible damage. Special products are used to clean the ventilation. Usually this work is performed by professional craftsmen of the company that made or installed the air duct. The timing of cleaning is discussed in advance, depending on the scope of the product and the medium that is discharged through the pipe.
It is important to check that the braid fits snugly against the surface . The presence of the mark indicates the type of product. Sometimes the installer advises leaving part of the structure for further use if you want to make repairs, but this should not be done. The length must exactly match the requirements of the operation. An adapter should be used at the junction where the pipe enters the wall. It will help to avoid various deformations. Well, do not forget that a reliable bracket is responsible for the safety of the shell. When using two or more media, heat sinks should be used. Thanks to them, it will be possible to stabilize the temperature to the desired level.
In what situations cannot be used?
If a product is used for furnace structures or boilers, it is imperative to follow all the rules for installation and subsequent operation. Otherwise, damage to the corrugation can be tolerated, which in the future will lead to malfunction of the equipment itself and harm human health. There are situations where the use of flexible ventilation hoses is undesirable. For example, this happens if:
- the air that passes through the sleeve is above the permissible temperature;
- the degree of heat resistance of the product is not taken into account;
- assumes operation in the open air without additional protection, when direct rays of the sun, water, low temperatures can affect the corrugation;
- if installation is carried out on vertical risers, the height of which exceeds 2 floors of the building;
- possible contact with aggressive media or abrasive materials.
All these details must be agreed in advance during the design of the product.
How to mask a pipe?
After the issue with the choice of the sleeve is resolved, it is made and installed, you should take care of the interior of the room in which the installation was carried out. There are some tips on how to rationally disguise a flexible sleeve:
- purchase a built-in hood that closes with a hanging cabinet;
- decorate to match the color of furniture, walls or other parts of the interior;
- if a suspended ceiling is provided, hide the pipe in it.
