The density of bitumen is measured in kg / m3 and t / m3. It is necessary to know the density of BND 90/130, grade 70/100 and other categories in accordance with GOST. You also need to deal with other subtleties and nuances.
Theoretical information
Mass, as indicated in physics, is a property of a material body, which serves as a measure of gravitational interaction with other objects. Contrary to popular usage, weight and weight should not be confused. Volume is a quantitative parameter, the size of that part of the space that is occupied by an object or a certain amount of substance . And with this in mind, it is possible to characterize the density of bitumen.
This physical quantity is calculated by dividing the gravity by the volume. It illustrates the gravity of a substance per unit volume.
But not everything is as simple and easy as it might seem. The density of substances - including bitumen - can vary depending on the degree of heating . The pressure at which the substance is also plays a role.
How to set the required indicator?
Everything is comparatively simple:
- under room conditions (20 degrees, atmospheric pressure at sea level) - the density can be taken equal to 1300 kg / m3 (or, which is the same, 1, 3 t / m3);
- you can independently calculate the desired parameter by dividing the mass of the product by its volume;
- help is also provided by special online calculators;
- the volume of 1 kg of bitumen is considered equal to 0.769 liters;
- on the scales, 1 liter of the substance pulls 1, 3 kg.
Why is it so important, and what types of bitumen are there
These substances are intended for:
- arrangement of roads;
- formation of hydraulic structures;
- housing and civil construction.
In accordance with GOST, bitumen is produced for road construction, grade BND 70/100.
You need to use it only at a temperature not lower than +5 degrees. The density at a temperature of 70 degrees is 0.942 g per 1 cm3.
This parameter is set according to ISO 12185: 1996. The density of BND 90/130 does not differ from the density of the previous product.
