For sand concrete, coarse sand is used. The granule size of such sand does not exceed 3 mm. This distinguishes it from river sand with a grain size of less than 0.7 mm - thanks to this feature, such a solution belongs to ordinary ones, and is not sand concrete by definition.

Basic calculation method

The calculation of the sand concrete required to cover 1 m2 of the surface, as well as used for the preparation of 1 m3 of building material, is carried out by a specialist. To calculate the required amount of sand concrete, you need to know:

  • the amount of work planned by the customer;
  • packaging of sand concrete - according to the number of ordered bags;
  • a brand of sand concrete, below which one cannot go down in a particular case.

Correlating these data in a script or a calculation program that acts as a kind of calculator, the foreman, who calculates the final estimate, generates an order for execution.

The calculation features are also as follows . In addition to sand, granite screening with the smallest particles and plasticizers are added to sand concrete. Accordingly, it becomes possible to save on the quality of pouring sand concrete where it is really justified: if, for example, concrete M-400 or M-500 turns out to be superfluous, say, when building a non-residential building on one floor, where overload is not expected, then you can use sand concrete of the M-300 brand. But it is also impossible to underestimate the grade of concrete too much: such savings often turn into, say, the fragility of the completed structure or structure.

In addition to sand, cement and crushed stone screening, crushed plasticizer is added to sand concrete. There may be several plasticizing additives. They are added either in the form of a crushed powder, or are poured one by one (or all at once - mixed / chaotically) into the bred sand-concrete composition. Their use has a beneficial effect on the quality of sand concrete: it is resistant to excessive absorption of moisture, which is why it gets much less into the poured and hardened base that has gained strength. And where there is no excess moisture, there is no excess freezing, no matter how cold outside (even -60 degrees in Russia), the cracking of frozen water does not disturb the concrete as much as in the complete absence of plasticizing additives.

The calculation of sand concrete is based on the following theses:

  • the number of bags of sand concrete per cubic meter;
  • the number of bags of the same sand concrete per square meter of the poured (coated) surface.

The more data about a particular order, the easier - and faster - it is to fulfill . The result allows us to estimate the fulfillment of the application from the supplier so that the entire batch is delivered in one trip, without the need to purchase a sudden shortage of sand concrete.

If you are preparing sand concrete yourself, then take into account the following factors

  • Bulk density of sea sand, crushed stone screening and cement - separately . The actual density without air gaps between the dust particles / granules / sand grains lying on top of each other is noticeably less than the bulk density. In these gaps, in order to form a whole-semi-liquid composition of mixed sand concrete, water with plasticizers enters. Grains of sand are covered with dust grains and smaller particles of powdered plasticizer, mixed until smooth. And they, in turn, are joined together by water, part of which remains in the hardened, "captured" composition.
  • Consumption of the composition per cubic meter … To, for example, make a sand concrete screed 5 cm thick, you will need to cover 20 m2 of an old, previously prepared surface (platform) with one cubic meter. This amount is calculated as follows: the meter height of a cubic meter is divided by 5 cm - it turns out, as it were, 20 layers, laid on top of each other, which are "scattered", distributed over the surface of, say, a rough floor (reinforced concrete foundation in the structure itself). With a fill thickness, the square will change accordingly: with a decrease in the thickness, it will increase, with an increase - vice versa.

Having received this data, they choose the brand of sand concrete - and with the participation of the store manager, it is counted by bags. Bags are different - from 10 to 50 kg of sand concrete for each.

How much material do you need for one cube?

Average weight of sand concrete - 2.4 t / m3 … But depending on the brand, it fluctuates noticeably. Despite the fact that both crushed stone and sand have a common origin - granite material, the tonnage of the cube differs depending on the grain size of the material. For example, per centimeter of coating thickness, the consumption of medium grade sand concrete is approximately 20 kg / m2. If you took sand concrete in 40-kilogram bags, then one such is equal to the coating on the same square 2 cm thick. When there is a strict requirement, for example, the same 5 cm of screed in thickness, the consumption of 5 bags per 2 m2 is natural.

To perform a screed with the same 5 centimeters of the increased thickness (depth) of the base of a workshop with an area of 30 m2, in this case you will need at least 75 bags of the same sand concrete. To estimate how many fractions of a cubic meter fit in one bag of sand concrete - for the same 40 kg, then divide the second into a cubic meter. In 6 40-kilogram bags, 0.1 m3 will fit, since the result obtained is in this case an irrational number (zero point, one tenth, six in the period). And to convert the number of bags into a cube, on the contrary, it will come out 60 (in the same case).

To reduce the consumption of sand concrete, you can also, in addition to granite screening, try crushed expanded clay (brick chips), but do not overuse this technique.

Consumption per square meter

Sand concrete, like any building material, is even simpler in terms of calculating consumption per square meter. If for the preparation of the composition of the M-300 brand, which has a density of about 2400 kg / m3, it is necessary exactly 2.4 tons for each cubic meter, then in the case of a 5-centimeter screed, the calculation is as follows.

  • To cover 1 m2 of surface with a 5 cm screed, 120 kg is required.
  • Having packaged this mass in 40 kg, we get 3 bags per square.

It is these data that the estimator (manager) will announce to you, having learned how thick the screed you are pouring, and what brand of cement you need. For example, to cover 30 m2 of the same workshop - from an already familiar example - you will need 60 40 kg bags of sand concrete. In the case of, for example, 25-kilogram bags, their number will increase to 72 with constant squaring and the thickness of the screed.

To calculate the number of sand concrete bags, for example, for the M-400 brand (when laying paving stones on this mixture), the nominal (with a margin) layer thickness is determined, which resembles a simple screed of the concrete area being repaired . The calculation is made, of course, taking into account the thickness of the paving slabs that you are using. And also based on the general level to which the renewed platform will rise: additional centimeters of the total thickness of the equipped platform will appear.

Next, a solution is poured over square meters, and it is laid on it, knocked out with a rubber hammer and exposed (during installation) with the help of a laser or bubble hydro level a new tiled (paving) coating. If the floor in the room is not concrete, but brickwork (rarely, but this is possible), then the consumption of sand concrete when leveling the floor may turn out to be uneven. In this case, they act by a proven method.

  • Evaluate the difference between the differences in the minimum and maximum thickness of the screed, which is needed to perfectly level the floor horizontally.
  • Based on the calculated value, calculate the consumption of sand concrete per square.

The resulting value is converted into cubic meters - for the final calculation of the cost of delivery of the entire batch of sand concrete in one step.

For wall plastering, the consumption rate is calculated according to the same scheme as for the floor screed: the wall is a flat surface. So, if 40 kg / m2 of surface is used for a 2-centimeter plastering of walls, then the square of the walls in the room that is being finished is calculated. For example, if the area of the walls in the room was 90 m2, taking into account the door and window openings, in this case you will need 3.6 tons of sand concrete, or 90 bags (one bag per square of new plaster) of dry mix.
