To maintain a presentable appearance of shrubs and garden trees, they must be constantly pruned. The brush cutter does an excellent job with this. This tool is indispensable for the care of large bushes, hedges and lawns. Making a brush cutter from a chainsaw with your own hands will not be difficult. The main thing is to follow the stated instructions step by step.

Types

There is no universal garden tool model. In this regard, it is worth figuring out what types of brush cutters are.

  • Mechanical . The best option for owners of a small number of trees and shrubs. It resembles a large scissor and is intended for manual cutting of rose bushes or currants.
  • Rechargeable . It is compact and easy to operate. Its complete set includes a powerful battery, which will allow the tool to work for 1–1, 5 hours without interruption.
  • Petrol . It is characterized by high power and performance. It has a wide range of applications, because it is used not only in garden plots, but also in large utilities. It should be noted that its high cost and heavy weight (about 6 kg).
  • Electric . It does an excellent job of pruning trees and is suitable for creating original garden designs. "Stickiness" to the power grid and weather conditions are the weak points of the tool. It is strictly forbidden to operate this type of brushcutter in rainy weather.

You can buy a ready-made brush cutter at any specialized store or make it yourself, using an electric saw as a "base". Before proceeding with the rework, you will need blueprints.

Preliminary preparation

For independent design of a hedge trimmer from a chainsaw, use a sheet of paper or make a drawing on a computer. To create the second one, you need to follow the following guidelines:

  1. choose a convenient program ("Compass", AutoCAD or Layout);
  2. we study the toolbar with the help of which the design will be created;
  3. making a trial sketch;
  4. set the scale size to 1: 1;
  5. all sheets with drawings must have frames (from the left edge - 20 ml, from all others - 5 ml);
  6. after the drawing is ready, it is best to print it out for clarity.

How to do it?

The homemade garden plant care tool is an attachment that attaches to a standard chainsaw or electric saw. So, you need to prepare the following tools:

  • chain saw (or chainsaw);
  • two steel strips (25 mm);
  • nuts, bolts;
  • welding machine;
  • drill;
  • Bulgarian;
  • roulette;
  • grinding machine;
  • pliers;
  • protractor.

We start assembling, while adhering to the following actions:

  1. We "uncover" the saw blade and set the parameters of the blade;
  2. make markings on a steel strip (equal segments) using a protractor;
  3. we heal the strip in a vice and cut it along the markings with a grinder; thus, we get blanks for the "teeth" of the brush cutter;
  4. we send them to a grinding machine and smooth sharp edges;
  5. we take another strip and cut out the tire for attaching the nozzle to the canvas from it;
  6. make markings and drill holes for fasteners;
  7. we lay out the metal "fangs" on the tire at the same distance and weld them; look at the "geometry" of the nozzle;
  8. further, we attach it to the canvas with bolts (tighten with a wrench).

When the homemade brushcutter is ready, you can start testing it. We turn on the saw with a nozzle in the socket and bring it to the branch (it should be between the "teeth"). Due to the “double fixation”, the tree does not jump over the nozzle, but is carefully cut. A homemade brush cutter will allow you to cut several branches at once on a tree or voluminous bush.
