It is very difficult to overestimate the importance of a gazebo for a summer cottage or house. Gazebos have been erected on their plots for a long time, so we can say that this is almost an integral part of any summer cottage or private house. They are loved by creative people, because it is in beautiful gazebos that inspiration most often comes. There people rest on hot days, sometimes they meet guests, and sometimes there are many events that will be remembered for a lifetime. And, of course, everyone wants to make it beautiful and durable.
Here we will tell you how to make a gazebo with your own hands in the fastest way possible. We take the wooden version as a basis, but you can safely make it according to the same model and from other materials.
Peculiarities
Gazebos are distinguished by their purpose, so you need to clearly understand what exactly it is for: cooking, dining in warm seasons, or it will be an exclusively resting place. Only on the basis of these ideas will it be easy to determine both the size of the gazebo and its design.
Also pay attention to the fact that paths on the site lead to it . The view from it is no less important. When choosing a location, you need to take care of protection from the wind and sufficient access to light. Based on all the wishes, it will be easy to determine whether you need the most closed gazebo made of durable, heavy materials or a light open space for the summer.
Choose the size of the gazebo based on the activity for which you need it, and also calculate how many people it should hold on average. Think in advance whether sofas, tables and a barbecue should fit into the gazebo. Try to use space as efficiently as possible. But when planning construction, do not forget about the limited territory, therefore, for small plots, gazebos of 2x2 meters are usually built.
Materials (edit)
In order to make a gazebo in one day, you need to buy and prepare the necessary material in advance, otherwise it will take too much time during the construction process.
The main materials for the construction are:
- Tools: hammer, saw, drill, nails, screws, level, shovel.
- Antiseptic for treating wood from parasites.
- Crushed stone and sand for the "cushion" of the foundation.
- Wooden beams, boards. Pay attention to their preliminary processing, as well as calculate a sufficient number of them, since it will take a lot of wood to build a gazebo.
- Prepare handrails and gratings for the walls of the future gazebo in advance.
- Roofing material for the roof. Bituminous or ordinary shingles are perfect.
- Concrete foundation posts.
- Metal corners for fastening.
- Paint and brushes.
You may also need to prepare the rafters in advance.
Step-by-step instruction
When you can already clearly imagine what kind of gazebo and where you need it, you can start drawing up its project. First, measure the space for the gazebo and draw its exact location.
After that, you can proceed to the construction of the gazebo directly . You need to start work by driving in a peg to mark the marking of the foundation. Further, the territory is cleared of the top layer of soil and pits are prepared at a distance of about two meters from each other along the entire perimeter of the building, starting from the corners.
The next step is to prepare and tamp the "pillow" well under the foundation, for this, crushed stone and sand are used. Install concrete posts around the entire perimeter at an equal distance from each other. For better insulation, the posts can be coated with bitumen. After that, lay several layers of roofing material on the posts. Along the perimeter, beams of 10x10 cm are laid. (At the ends, it is necessary to make recesses for fastening, you can also use metal corners). So, the foundation is ready. Now you need to lay on top of the wooden logs, pre-soaked with an antiseptic. In the corners, you need to install wooden posts, fix them with metal corners, pull them along the top.
At this stage, you need to carefully check the geometry of the building. After checking, grooved wooden boards are laid on the floor.
Then you can start making the roof and walls of the gazebo . First, you need to attach the timber to the top of the harness, connecting them with a horizontal beam. Attach the rafters to it, the protrusion behind the building should be about 30 cm. Experts recommend assembling the roof itself on the ground, and only later fix it on the structure, so you can be sure of the correct geometry and its general appearance. After that, the railing is attached at a distance of more than a meter from the floor, later they are decorated with a wooden or metal lattice at the discretion of the owner.
To make a gazebo from metal, it is necessary to replace all wooden materials with fittings and metal tiles. In this case, of course, the gazebo will be stronger, but it will require more effort, skill and time.
In the last place, cosmetic work is carried out to improve the erected structure . After the main work is done, the gazebo can be painted or covered with a special varnish. In no case should this stage be ignored, otherwise the gazebo will look ridiculous or simply collapse in the near future. Do not try to make the gazebo as bright and visible as possible. It will organically fit into the site if it is in harmony with the color of the house or retains its appearance as a tree. You can decorate the gazebo with hanging flowers inside and flower bushes around it.
The construction is ready. Now you can spend your summer days under the beautiful shed that you completed yourself in just one day! In such a building, it is pleasant to spend warm evenings after hot summer days, to meet guests and even organize holidays. Such a structure is reliable and will delight for many years after its construction, and the satisfaction from the time spent in it will also be reinforced by the fact that you have completed this structure with your own hands in such a short time.
